We are the productive agricultural cooperative named "Deliciae". Our business is organising the
snail farming, and the snail we farm is Helix pomatia. We have signed contracts with around 100
cooperants, and the most of them will start farming snails this spring. In April and May this year we
will have 200 tones of alive snails from their natural environment (forests, meadows), so we are
looking for partner interested in buying them. Snails grown in Croatia are high quality because of
the exceptionally clear environment.
As far as frozen snails are concered, our intention is to process snails and freeze them, but to start
this we need a reliable foreign partner(s) who will be able to buy significant quantity of frozen snails.
At the time we are in process of building halls for facilities required for snail (and frog legs, and...)
processing. We have a support from local authorities because our goal is to establish the regional
"snailing" center which would cover eastern Croatia, northern Serbia, southern Hungaria, and in
the prospect northern Bosnia. If we can reach some arrangements soon, possibility is that we can
start processing snails this spring.
Our estimation is that in 2-3 years we will have on disposal a significant quantity of farmed snails
(500-1000 tones, perhaps even more), so prerequisites for a long term partnership are established.
We are also in preparation for another project, experimental frog farming, predicted to start this
spring.
